Help Child to Think Critically

In today global and rapidly changing world, children need to be able to do much. As a parent often we assume we are doing our job as parent when we help our child solve problem. why let them frustrated , especially when they want to draw a tool that just wont work?And lets not forget how difficult it can be to witness a child upset.

Real learning isn’t about answering a question fast and even perfect, instead , child should be able to solve problem on his own.After all children need  critically thinking skill to succeed. They need to be able to think on their own feet in a creative and effective way. So how can we raise critical thinkers, the kind of kids who can solve problem and make difference?

For that we have to first understand the meaning of critical thinking

Critical thinking compromise a number of different skills that help us to learn to make decisions. It is the ability to eveluate information to determine whether it is right or wrong. To think critically about an issue or problem means be open minded and consider alternative ways of looking at solutions

Here are some tips which help your child to think critically:
1) Provide opportunities to play.
2) Pause and wait.
3) Don’t intervene immediately.
4) Ask open minded questions.
5) Help children develop hypotheses.
6) Encourage critical thinking in new and different ways.

of course there are situations where you as a parent need to step in. At these times it is helpful to model your own critical thinking. As you work through a decision making process, verbalize what is happening inside your mind. Taking time to allow your child to navigate problem is integral to develop your child’s critical thinking in the long run.
